More information
This 380-year-old house, listed on the historical registry, has all the charm of an authentic house, yet all the comforts for modern life. This comfortably furnished 110 m2, three-bedroom apartment is located in the quiet and historical artisan quarter known as the Jordaan.
This apartment is housed in a beautifully-restored 17th century building. The building has a wooden façade behind which it used to house a vegetable and potato shop. The gable is a classical renaissance crow-stepped gable; this is a stair-step type of design at the top of the triangular gable-end of a building.
Inside you still see many original features, such as wooden beams, blue and white painted porcelain tiles, wooden stairs and the famous Amsterdam backhouse-fronthouse division.
Staircases
This apartment is one flight up and has two internal flights. In historic buildings in Amsterdam many of the staircases are steeper than most people are used to. The flights are between moderately steep and steep.
Location description
There are many cozy café's, restaurants, specialty shops, and boutiques close at hand. This district hosts quite a few colorful local markets on a weekly basis. It is located in the northern side of the Jordaan district. The Haarlemmerdijk is the closest cross street, a few steps away, this street was awarded best shopping street of the Netherlands in 2007 because of its many specialized and unique boutique shops. The Brouwersgracht is the other cross street and was named several times as the best street (canal) to live at.
