More information
Full of history, the house was built around 1790 and is a national monument. In the 1820s it was home to the young Multatuli, Holland's most famous author. You can visit the museum dedicated to him a few streets away in the house of his birth and the large statue of him on the Torensluis bridge on the Singel canal.
Totally renovated in 2007, the house has retained its historical details, yet offers every modern comfort and convenience. Spacious (140m2) and stylishly furnished, it offers 3 good-sized bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in the sought-after neighbourhood of the northern Jordaan and Haarlemmerstraat.
It features beamed ceilings throughout, wooden stairs and the traditional Dutch steeply slanted roof in the attic bedroom.
Staircases
The apartment is two flights up and has two internal flights. In historic buildings in Amsterdam many of the staircases are steeper than most people are used to. The flights are between moderately steep and steep. Stairgates can be installed on request, at extra cost.
